Ready to teach smarter and save time? Center signs are displayed in each center in the classroom as a way to keep parents, administrators, and other adults informed of what students are learning in each center. Displaying a photograph on each sign can help young children locate the centers. Using photographs provides students with an example of what the center looks like when it is clean, looking at the pictures can help children learn how to clean-up appropriately. How do Center Signs Work? First, print the signs on your paper of choice, regular copy paper or cardstock. Next, display the signs in each center in your classroom in a vertical position so they are easily visible to both adults and children. How to Display Center Signs You choose how to display the signs in your classroom.

I know that most of you still have many more weeks of summer vacation, but being a bit compulsive I was always thinking, and planning and shopping and making things for the next year. As soon as the carpet was cleaned and the custodians finished in my room I was ready to start pushing around furniture and getting ready for the new crop of kids.
I loved the freedom to stop into my classroom for an hour or so, and then leave and go do something else.

Step 1 Start by cutting a pool noodle into two inch sections with your scissors. Pool noodles are very easy to cut with scissors, just apply steady pressure so your cut is even and not jagged. If your cut is not even your pool noodle sign stands may wobble. If you do cut your pool noodles unevenly all is not lost, just use a sharp knife to even them up. Step 2 Next, cut each length of pool noodle in half as pictured below. I suggest using a cutting board or similar surface under your pool noodle as you are cutting just to be on the safe side.
You could also use a sharp knife to cut your pool noodles instead of scissors. Step 3 Finally; use a sharp knife to cut a slit in the rounded top of each environmental print sign stand. The slit should be wide enough to accommodate a craft stick. I made the slits in the top of the noodle deep so the craft stick could be pushed through to touch the floor.
This will give your sign stands extra support when they are standing upright in the block center. Step 4 Now your environmental print sign stands are ready to be assembled. First, print and cut out the traffic signs at the bottom of this post.
Tracing Make an Apple Template. Print apple pattern a new window will open and trace it on the cardboard. Using sharp knife cut it out. Ask children trace inside.

Even though I do not have a preschool class right now, I still have a bulletin board in my office which I still have a collage of pictures and miscellaneous keepsakes on. Bulletin Boards can set the tone of your classroom, preschool, or home and it really doesn’t take a whole lot of time and money to prepare one. The following ideas are actual ideas and materials that I have personally used.

I had two things left to do today. The second to last page is another measuring page. When the children come to school in September we measure them, weigh them, and draw a handprint and footprint.
Then in May we do the same thing again and create another page so the children, and mom and dad, can see how much they have grown. I also finished up the “I can write my name page. Later I provide the dots for a trace effect, and finally I let them write their name by themselves. Amazingly I was able to decipher everyone’s name. They have come such a long way! The last page of the book is a collection of photographs which we have taken throughout the year.
We keep a photo album that parents can look at during the year.

Research tells us that kids learn and retain the most when they are interested and invested in what they are learning about. The group I have this year would order pizza everyday for lunch if their parents let them which told me pizza was a prefect theme for this group. My pizza theme lasted about one month in my preschool classroom and we also did a shapes unit during the pizza theme as well. You will find literacy, math, fine motor, art, blocks, sensory, and dramatic play center ideas below!
When I do a theme in my classroom, I take integrate it into each and every center in my classroom! I went to Goggle images and searched for pizza restaurant logos in our area that students would recognize. I coped them into a PowerPoint document, hit print, cut each one out, and taped them to a unit block.
